Beijing 101 - Local Food!

One of the must-do things for me when I travel is always to try the local food!...
So it was no different when I visited Beijing earlier this month...

After visiting Forbidden City... (a must-visit!... but will blog abt it later... MUCH later coz there're lots of pics....)... I went searching for food....

This shop caught my eye...
Looked local enough...
Unfortunately my Chinese isn't so good...
Totally regret not studying harder for it in school...

So what does the shop sell?

Before that.. another pic of the shop....

Coz the menu was in Chinese..
and I couldn't make much of it with my limited Chinese...
I asked the lady boss to recommend..
(my conversational Mandarin is decent enough.. luckily!)

Boy, was it local!

These were what I had..

Beijing local delight

One bowl of all the intestines and parts...
It's not too bad as I'm a fan of Kway Chap in S'pore..
But for this.. the taste was quite different and the problem was..
some parts.. I did not even know where they came from!!...

The other dish...
I really had no idea what it is...
I still don't...
I thought it was squid... but it is not!...

I enjoyed the experience though...
that's what makes travelling fun!!

So leave a little room for the unknown the next time you travel =)

The food was "interesting"...
I wouldn't exactly say it's nice haha..

But still... definitely worth the experience!
